Gravity announces $10M in funding to reshape the future of business analytics
Today's announcement
Today, Orion by Gravity is announcing $10M in total funding, with a $7M round led by Next Frontier Capital and participation from Foundry Group, K5 Global, and Denver Ventures. The round also includes strategic angels from some of the most operationally rigorous companies in technology, including Ed Hallen (Klaviyo), Godard Abel (G2), Nick Caldwell (Peloton), Bryan Leach (Ibotta), and Tom Eggemeier (Zendesk).
"Business intelligence has never actually been intelligent," said Lucas Thelosen, Co-Founder and CEO of Gravity. "It's been a very expensive way to answer questions you already knew to ask. Orion flips that model. It's not a tool you query. It's an analyst who shows up every morning already knowing what to investigate."
This funding accelerates what we've already built and expands what becomes possible: a world where the gap between what's happening in your business and what you know about it closes, continuously and automatically.
Why Most Decisions Still Happen Too Late
There's a gap inside almost every company.
Not a gap in data. Not a gap in tooling.
A gap between what's happening and when the organization does something about it.
A metric shifts. Customer behavior changes. Something subtle starts moving beneath the surface. But no one sees it clearly yet. No one takes action. So the questions start: What changed? Why did it happen? Does it matter?
And then the waiting begins.
By the time answers arrive, they're often already behind the moment. The decision has been made. The opportunity has passed. Or the problem has quietly grown larger.
The real failure of modern BI
Despite billions invested in modern data infrastructure, most organizations still operate reactively. Business users wait for answers. Data teams are buried in tickets. Metrics drift in the wrong direction and go unnoticed until it's too late.
The problem isn't access to data. It's awareness.
Awareness means seeing what changed before someone asks. Understanding why it matters without assembling a dozen dashboards. Knowing where to act while there's still time to change the outcome.
Traditional BI tools were never built for this. They wait for a question. They answer what you already knew to ask. That's not intelligence. It's retrieval.
A different model
Orion was designed around a simple idea: what if insight didn't wait for a question?
Orion continuously investigates what's happening across your business, identifies changes, explains drivers, and delivers clear, narrative insight directly to the people who need it. Not more dashboards. Not faster queries. A fundamentally different model, from answering to surfacing what matters.
In practice, that means:
- Leaders start the week understanding what changed and why
- Teams walk into meetings with context, not just numbers
- Risks and opportunities surface before they escalate
Orion connects natively to your existing data stack, including BigQuery, Looker, Snowflake, Databricks, and dbt, and delivers outputs directly into Slack and email. No new tooling. No analyst queue. No training required.
Early customers are already seeing the results, up to 85% reduction in recurring and ad-hoc analytics work, executive-ready briefings in minutes instead of days, and insights reaching stakeholders who never had access before.
What becomes possible
When awareness arrives sooner, decisions get sharper. Organizations move with more confidence. Fewer things slip by unnoticed.
Most companies already have the data. What they've been missing is the ability to truly see it.
That's what we're building.
